The Centre for Law & Policy at Ziauddin University’s Faculty of Law, Politics & Governance participated in a policy roundtable on Karachi’s clean energy transition, organised by the Knowledge Forum.
The roundtable brought together parliamentarians, government officials from the energy sector, representatives of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce, and civil society organisations. The Centre underscored that economic security is closely tied to energy security. Drawing on South Africa’s energy crisis, it highlighted the need for robust infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted electricity access. The Centre also noted that persistent load-shedding undermines individual productivity and livelihoods, particularly in low-income communities, thereby weakening the country’s overall economic security.
This engagement forms part of the Centre’s broader efforts to advance evidence-based policymaking in Pakistan.
