Ziauddin University has expanded its legacy of excellence by launching its new campus in Sukkur, bringing advanced education to the heart of interior Sindh, where Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy is offering a 5-year Doctor of Physical Therapy programme, a distinguished institute affiliated with the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.

Equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, ZCPT features a modern physical therapy lab with cutting-edge equipment, a comprehensive digital library stocked with the latest editions of books, and a 3D anatomy dissection table—the first of its kind in the interior Sindh region. The campus also includes modern classrooms, indoor and outdoor sports facilities, and a fully equipped auditorium, creating an environment that fosters holistic growth and learning.

According to eligibility criteria, students who got a minimum of 60 % marks in the Science group of Higher Secondary Certificate Examinations from a recognised Board of Intermediate Education in Pakistan or O/A-Levels and others equivalent to HSSC (Pre-Medical) can apply. With its commitment to providing quality education, Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus is paving new pathways for success for aspiring healthcare professionals.

Addressing Malnutrition Issues in Sindh: Strategies and Way Forward

The seminar “Addressing Malnutrition Issues in Sindh: Strategies and Way Forward” was held at Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus in collaboration with MERF, SPO, and the European Union.

Guest speakers included Dr Saiqa Jalil (Coordinator, Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy), Dr Qasim Sodhar (Assistant Professor, Aror University), Dr Umaida Chana (Head of Department, GIMS Khairpur), and Dr Muhammad Usman Khan (Principal, ZCPT Sukkur).

Dr Ranomal (Program Coordinator, IRC) summarised the session, while the keynote address and concluding remarks were given by Mr Amjad Hussain Baloch (Regional Manager, SPO Sindh). Students from the Doctor of Physical Therapy programme actively participated, contributing to the event’s success and leaving a lasting impact on the community.

Sindhi Culture Day
Sindhi Culture Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus, showcasing the vibrant traditions and rich heritage of Sindh. Students, faculty, and staff dressed in colorful Ajraks and Sindhi Topis, symbolizing unity and pride in their cultural identity. The event featured traditional music, dance performances, and a variety of cultural exhibits, reflecting the essence of Sindhi art, history, and craftsmanship. Attendees enjoyed authentic Sindhi cuisine and participated in interactive sessions to learn more about the significance of Sindhi culture. The celebration fostered a sense of community and highlighted the importance of preserving and cherishing local traditions in an academic setting.
A memorable Qawali Night
On 12th October 2024, students and faculty of Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus, came together for a memorable Qawali Night after a busy semester and exhausting exams. The event, organized by Ziauddin University, provided a refreshing break filled with soulful music, delicious dinner, and tea. It was a much-needed evening of relaxation, fun, and camaraderie for everyone involved.
Independance day Celebration 2024
At Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Ziauddin University – Sukkur Campus, the celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day was a vibrant and memorable event. Students from all four batches of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program participated with great enthusiasm. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and the Ziauddin anthem, setting a patriotic tone. Students conveyed powerful messages of patriotism through various skits and tableaux. Faryal, a first-year student, captivated the audience with her melodious rendition of national songs, elevating the atmosphere. Among the highlights were the humorous skits and impactful speeches by Aks e Zehra, and Rutba Batool, and beautiful poetry narration by Simran, which added both humor and inspiration to the event. All the Hosts of the event engaged the audience beautifully. The Principal, ZCPT concluded the ceremony with a speech emphasizing the crucial role of education in Pakistan’s progress. The event ended on a high note with a cake-cutting ceremony, attended by guests from Dr. Ziauddin Hospital, where Dr. Ayesha (Consultant Gynecologist) praised the efforts of the students, teachers, and staff. Dr. Ayesha Jabeen (Principal College of Pharmacy) also appreciated the student. The day also featured a fun gala and food mela, making the celebration both enjoyable and entertaining for all involved. The day ended with the echoes of the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad,” resonating through the campus, leaving a strong sense of patriotism and unity among all participants.

On March 11th, Vice Chancellor, Ziauddin University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan and Registrar Capt. (r) Syed Waqar Hussain visited the Ziauddin University Sukkur campus to oversee the progress of ongoing and upcoming projects. They commended the efforts of ZU management for undertaking initiatives to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure for the university and hospital. During their visit, they inspected all the construction sites of the university and hospital, emphasizing the need to expedite the completion of the College of Nursing and Pharmacy buildings. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan planted a tree as a symbolic gesture and took note of the horticulture and gardening activities on the campus. This visit underscores the commitment of the university administration to enhancing facilities and services for the community, its faculty, students and patients.

On 11th and 12th January 2024, the Pakistan Life Saving Program conducted a comprehensive 2-day Basic Life Support (BLS) training at ZCPT-ZU Sukkur Campus, equipping students and faculty with vital lifesaving skills. Renowned instructors from the Pakistan Life Saving Program led the training, which covered essential techniques such as CPR, choking relief, and AED usage. Through interactive sessions, hands-on practice, and real-time simulations, participants gained proficiency in responding to cardiac emergencies and other life-threatening situations. This initiative, organized by the Pakistan Life Saving Program, aims to promote a culture of safety and wellness on campus, empowering students and faculty to save lives in critical situations. Event was ended by a motivating speech by Principal ZCPT Sukkur Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan.

Debate Competition

A district-level debate competition titled “Addressing Malnutrition Issues in Sindh: Strategies and Way Forward” was successfully organized at Ziauddin University, Sukkur Campus, on November 26th, 2024. The event featured eight talented debaters who passionately discussed the pressing issue of malnutrition. The panel of esteemed jury members, including Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan, Principal of Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Dr. Ayesha Jabeen, Vice Principal of the College of Pharmacy, and Ms. Ambreen, a representative of the Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO), thoroughly evaluated the performances. The winners were announced as Mr. Ahmed Mian securing 1st prize, Mr. Hammad Hussain earning 2nd prize, and Ms. Aqsa Memon taking 3rd prize. They were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,000 respectively, along with certificates of achievement. Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan appreciated the participants for their exceptional efforts and extended heartfelt gratitude to SPO for their instrumental role in organizing this meaningful event. The event also welcomed guests from the community, colleges, and schools. Giveaways and lunch were served to all attendees, reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering dialogue on critical societal challenges.

Sukkur campus hosted a compelling session

On February 1, 2024, the Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy Sukkur campus hosted a compelling session delivered by the Country Director of the Youth Club, Mr. Tuaha Ibn e Jalil, and the President of the Sindh Chapter, Youth club Mr. Wajihuddin. The session proved to be both soulful and interactive, captivating the audience with a profound exploration of the pivotal themes encompassing Islam, education, and interpersonal connections. The engaging discourse centered around the significance of these elements in the lives of youth. The participants, including students and faculty, not only appreciated but thoroughly enjoyed the session, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for the discussed topics. The event served as a meaningful platform for fostering a sense of connection and shared values within the academic community.

Sukkur Campus hosted a comprehensive fire safety training session

On 16th January 2024, the ZCPT-ZU Sukkur Campus hosted a comprehensive fire safety training session for faculty members, aiming to equip them with essential knowledge and skills to ensure a safe and prepared campus community. The training covered crucial topics such as fire prevention, hazard identification, fire extinguisher usage, evacuation procedures, and emergency response plans. Through interactive sessions, practical demonstrations, and hands-on experience with fire extinguishers, participants gained confidence in handling fire-related emergencies and promoting a fire-safe campus culture. The training received positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the informative and engaging content, and the organizers look forward to building on this initiative to enhance campus safety.

Celebrated World Physical Therapy Day

On September 10th, 2024, Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy (ZCPT) at Ziauddin University Sukkur Campus celebrated World Physical Therapy Day with a poster exhibition and fun mela. Following the 2024 theme of “Low Back Pain,” students showcased various posters highlighting the prevalence, causes, treatment options, and global advancements in curing low back pain. Their efforts were praised by the Principal of ZCPT, Dr. Muhammad Usman Khan, along with esteemed guests Dr. Ayesha Aman (Gynecologist) and Dr. Kamil Ziad (DMS, DZH Sukkur). The event concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony and a lively fun mela, where students organized engaging activities like charades, song dedications, and games, accompanied by delicious food stalls, making it a memorable celebration.
