The College of Speech Language & Hearing Sciences at Ziauddin University introduced a one-year Diploma in Childhood Development and Psychopathology (DCDP) in August 2013. The programme caters to teachers, remedial and early childhood educationists, and parents who want to enhance their knowledge in this area of early childhood development.Â
The Diploma in Childhood Development and Psychopathology (DCDP) follows a modular curriculum that emphasises in-depth training. 7 modules covering human development from conception through adolescence and childhood disorders are taught. In addition, 16 hours of observation (the practical component) are mandatory at CSLHS recommended schools. Assistance is provided for the observation placement at the schools.
This course examines physical, cognitive, and social development with diagnostic and intervention techniques for early childhood disorders.
This diploma will provide students with a wide range of knowledge (both theoretical and practical) aimed at improving screening and referral practices, thereby lowering the age at which young children are identified with developmental delays and disorders.
