Cardiovascular Sciences is the study of the heart and blood vessels, especially how they work and what can go wrong with them. Students learn about different heart problems and how doctors find and treat them. They get to learn about invasive (inside the body) and non-invasive (outside the body) heart tests and other procedures.
This field creates chances for students to work with cardiac technologists and cardiologists.
The BS in Medical Technology (Cardiovascular Sciences) program gives students knowledge and clinical experience through observerships.Â
Students are required to attend clinical observerships at Dr. Ziauddin Hospitals, where they learn under the guidance of technologists and doctors. During these observerships, students get to observe: Exercise tolerance tests, Cardiac catheterization, Echocardiography, Follow-up of heart devices, Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, ECG and event loop monitoring (to check heart rhythms).
These hospital visits help students understand how the theory they learn in class is used in real life. It also prepares them for working in hospitals or continuing their further education.Â
