The College of Molecular Medicine and Department of Research, conducted a one-day hands-
on workshop titled “Cell Culture Applications: From Bench to Bedside” on 24 April 2025 at the
Clifton Campus of Ziauddin University. The event was coordinated by Dr. Rehan Imad and was
attended by 20 registered participants from diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
The workshop commenced with an insightful keynote lecture delivered by Prof. Dr. Talat Mirza, who highlighted the pivotal role of cell culture in clinical research. Her talk emphasized the relevance of in vitro systems in understanding health and disease mechanisms, as well as their translational applications in modern medicine.
Following the lecture, participants engaged in hands-on session. The practical segment included training on the thawing and revival of frozen cell lines under sterile conditions. Participants were provided with detailed demonstrations on the preparation of complete growth media, specifically tailored to various cell lines, and learned techniques for splitting confluent cultures to maintain optimal cell viability and growth. The session provided a comprehensive overview of essential cell culture techniques, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and laboratory application.
