MS Civil Engineering

Objectives

1) To produce graduates having technical and sound engineering knowledge, enabling them  to synchronise the problems with modern techniques and investigation procedures.

2) To produce graduates with professional development in a manner that they successfully  and ethically practice in all the related fields of Civil Engineering society.

3) To produce graduates with the motivation of lifelong learning, impart the knowledge with  design aspects and sustainability, and contribute towards substantial growth in Research  and Development.

4) To produce graduates having strong capability of teamwork, possessing leadership  qualities, focusing on entrepreneurship, and a vigilant connection with stakeholders.

Scope of Civil Engineering

In recent times, there has been an increase in the number of developments of high-rise buildings and  infrastructure; hence, there is an immense need to be part of the Civil Engineering profession from a broader perspective. The field of Civil Engineering is in high demand with the passage  of time and growing trends. The demand of Civil Engineers is almost equal in its all areas, including Construction Management, Traffic or Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical  Engineering, Urban Engineering, Coastal & Harbor Engineering, Earthquake Engineering,  Structural Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The area of Civil Engineering is very  broad and linked with the industrial development of the country. In addition, CPEC and other  big international projects have increased the demands of new buildings, airports,  transportation and road infrastructure, which is directly linked with Civil Engineering.

16 Years of education in the relevant discipline, Minimum CGPA 2.50 out of 4.00 or 60% marks, Passed GAT (General) or the University admission test.

Curriculum

The Department of Civil Engineering is offering MS Civil Engineering program at ZUFESTM. Each MS student has to select 3 core courses and 5 or 7 elective courses of specific specialization. A student can select six credit hours research work/thesis instead of two elective courses. The scheme of study for a specific specialisation is as follows:
