Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE)

The Master’s Programme in Health Professions Education (MHPE) is designed to provide an educational research platform to  health professions educators in a conducive learning environment to:

  • Transform their roles from ‘Subject-Teachers’ to ‘Educator-Leaders’, capable of bringing reforms in their own discipline/profession as change agents by effectively directing education delivery systems of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) both at the institutional and national levels.
  • Nurture their decision-making skills to let them reflect upon issues in health professions education using their critical thinking and problem-solving skills and to lead for sustainable good quality education.
  • Collaborate for innovations in teaching & assessment, and to deal with health professions education issues through the application of educational and ethical principles.

Mission

Our mission is to prepare educators in health professions education for the digitally transformed learning environment by creating meaningful educational experiences. This aims to promote educational research, practice good governance, and bring positive change within their communities for improved nationwide patient care outcomes.

Program Details

There will be 1 contact session per semester.

Each contact session will span over 3 weeks, 1 week dedicated to each course.

Timings: Monday- Friday from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.

Apart from these contact sessions, candidates will have to attend:

  • Online synchronous sessions; Journal Clubs (bi-monthly),
  • Face-to-Face Saturday session (once every month)

A total of 3 contact sessions will be conducted during the 2-year MHPE Program. The 4th Semester will be dedicated to Thesis work.

The contact session of Semester-1 is scheduled in September 2026.

Program Educational Objectives:

Within three to five years of graduation, the MHPE graduates will be able to:

  1. Provide training about recent advances in teaching, learning, assessment, and
    evaluation.
  2. Perform academic and administrative tasks professionally and effectively in
    multidisciplinary teams.
  3. Engage in lifelong professional development through self-directed learning, ethically
    publishable research, and scholarship for excellence in Health Professions Education.
  4. Establish industrial linkages and connections through dynamic leadership with
    professionals having similar interests.
Qualifications & Experience: Health professional with a bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 16 years of education, with a 1-year House Job (where applicable), and a valid registration from the relevant body are required  for programmes such as MBBS/BDS/BSN/BSMT/Pharm-D/DOT/DPT/BSSLP

Entry test: GAT conducted by ZU

Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI)

Note: Every applicant must submit an NOC from his/her Head of the Department/Institute for permission to attend the programme.

Selection of candidates will be based on the eligibility criteria, without any discrimination of gender, ethnicity, or physically challenged. However, preference will be given to additional relevant qualifications and teaching experience.

This programme will provide the opportunity to our graduates for further specialization in HPE in one of the following domains:

  • Curriculum Development,
  • Educational Measurement & Evaluation,
  • Educational Policy,
  • Faculty Development,
  • Educational Psychology,
  • Technology Enhanced Learning,
  • Curriculum Integration, and
  • Educational Environment & Leadership.

Disclaimer: Any additional taxes imposed by the government will be the liability of the students/parents/guardian. The University reserves the right to increase the fees if required according to the recommendation of the Governing Body. Advance fees to be paid semester-wise. All dues need to be cleared within two weeks of commencement of the academic year. A 2% surcharge per month will be levied on outstanding fees after the due date.
