MDS Dental Sciences
MDS candidates in Dental Sciences will have to be full-time students for a minimum period of 4 academic years. The award of degree shall be based on coursework, clinical requirements and a thesis. The programme is recognised by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Higher Education Commission (HEC) and follows regulations for registration to research studies as well as clinical training leading to the degree of MDS in the following subjects:
- Oral Pathology
- Operative Dentistry
- Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
- Orthodontics
- Periodontics
The MDS programme of Ziauddin University has been devised with a view to produce self-motivated individuals who wish to further their academic and clinical careers by gaining a higher qualification.Â
- The trainee should be involved in the management of an appropriate number of patients. Practical participation in the clinical management of patients, Training programmes consist of structured training sessions, clinical case presentations, Journal Club, and interactive sessions. Lectures and seminars to be arranged in all aspects of the concerned programme.
- A logbook will be maintained documenting training activities such as cases and details of an adequate number of patients examined and procedures performed.
- Specific training schedules will be available in the subject-specific protocols.Â
- The candidate must possess a BDS degree registered by PMDC.
- Must possess one year’s house job from a PMDC recognised institution.
- Permanent valid registration with PMDC.
- Declared successful in the MDS entrance exam conducted by Ziauddin University.
Final selection of candidates will be based on the previous academic record and experience, entry test and an interview.
