The Department of Community Dentistry organised a community outreach visit to Deaf Reach School on the 5th of September, accompanied by second-year BDS students, departmental faculty under the supervision of Professor Dr Sidra Mohiuddin. The purpose of the visit was to raise oral health awareness and provide basic dental screenings for deaf children.

The students conducted periodontal examinations for children aged 12 to 15 years under the mentorship of Assistant Professor Dr. Maryam Panhwar, and Lecturers Dr. Ammarah Nauman and Dr. Yousra Altaf. The clinical activity provided valuable hands-on experience to the students while benefiting the oral health of the community.

In addition to the examinations, an interactive oral health education session was delivered by the students using sign language, focusing on the importance of regular brushing and healthy eating habits. The session was designed to be inclusive and engaging for the children.

As a thoughtful gesture, oral hygiene kits were distributed to all participating students, generously sponsored by Colgate.

The event was a resounding success, promoting oral health, encouraging preventive care, and strengthening community engagement.
