Ode to the Leading Women

On 20th May 2024, the College of Languages, Literature and Culture hosted a panel discussion titled “Ode to the Leading Women: Challenging Gender Stereotypes for an Inclusive Society.” The event was honoured by the presence of distinguished guests, including Professor Dr Uzma Shujaat, journalist Lubna Jerar, and lawyer Tahera Hasan. The discussion centred on breaking down gender stereotypes and fostering inclusivity within society.

Panel Discussion: The Role of Civil Society in Driving Social Change

On 19th September 2024, the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences hosted a panel discussion titled “The Role of Civil Society as a Medium for Social Change”. The event featured renowned speakers: Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah, Rizwan Jaffar, and Samad Abbas, who shared their perspectives on how civil society organisations can drive meaningful transformation. The panellists discussed the importance of advocacy, community engagement, and education in shaping policies and addressing social challenges. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, inspiring students and faculty to explore the impact of collective action.

Seerat Un Nabi Conference

Seerat un–Nabi Conference on the topic of “Trend of intolerance in Society and Prophetic Teachings” was held at Ziauddin University, on 11 October 2023. The conference was organized by the College of Languages Literature & Culture along with an inter-college Naat competition among students of Ziauddin University. The conference started with the inaugural address of Dr Shehla Najib Sidiki, Dean Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, at Ziauddin University. The guest speakers Dr Umair Mehmood Siddiqui, a Member Islamic Ideological Council, and Professor Dr Zahid Ali Zahidi, Dean Faculty of Islamic Studies, University of Karachi, addressed the conference. While addressing the audience, Dr. Umair emphasized the need to spread awareness about the ongoing wave of intolerance and presented the idea of addressing the situation in light of the teachings of the holy prophet. Dr Zahidi stressed the necessity of inter-faith and intra-faith dialogue and self-actualization; he also congratulated the College of Languages Literature & Culture for organizing a thoughtful event for the students of Ziauddin University. Mr.Waseem Abbasi chairman of Abbasi Naat Council was also invited to judge the Naat Khawan students of different departments and announced the competition’s position holders. The position holders were Faraz Saleem of Ziauddin College of Media Sciences, Alishba Baneen from the College of Clinical Psychology & Barira Ahmed from Clinical Psychology, who got first, second and third positions respectively. Dr Syed Irfan Hyder, Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University also addressed the conference and distributed the shields among guests and certificates among the winners of the Naat Competition.
