RADIATION THERAPY

RADIATION THERAPY

Radiation Therapists are essential members of the oncology care team, working closely with Radiation Oncologists to deliver prescribed radiation treatments to patients. These allied health professionals are trained to manage the entire treatment process—explaining procedures to patients, ensuring radiation safety, applying preventive measures to minimize exposure, and supporting the emotional and physical well-being of individuals undergoing therapy.

Radiation Therapy at Ziauddin College of Medical Technology integrates foundational medical sciences with specialized training in radiation safety, techniques, and treatment planning. Over the course of four years, students are equipped with the knowledge and professional competencies required to become skilled and compassionate Radiation Therapists.

Clinical Observership & skills training

Students participate in structured observerships at Ziauddin Hospital’s radiation oncology department, where they closely follow experienced radiation therapists and gain firsthand insight into the workflow of clinical radiotherapy. These observerships provide valuable exposure to patient care protocols, treatment room preparation, radiation safety procedures, and quality assurance processes.

Students gain real-world exposure through observerships in oncology departments, where they observe how radiation treatments are planned and delivered to cancer patients. They learn about patient positioning, safety protocols, radiation machines, and treatment procedures. These observerships help students understand how radiation is used to treat disease and prepare them for hands-on roles in cancer care settings.  Â
