Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing PhD (3 Years)

There is a strong demand for doctorate-prepared nurses in the healthcare industry and nursing educational institutes in Pakistan. ZUFONAM is distinguished in having highly qualified foreign and locally prepared nursing faculty in the country. Ziauddin University is aspiring to be the third private sector institution in the country to start a PhD programme in Nursing.

Mission

To develop graduates capable of establishing a programme of research that generates nursing knowledge, formulate policies and advances practice related to the health of individuals, families, and communities at all levels of healthcare. 

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent, with Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN/Post RN BSN) (18 years of education)
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 scale in a semester system or minimum first division in the annual system in a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or equivalent from an HEC-recognised university
  • Passing University’s entrance test or Valid NTS-GAT/GRE score
  • Passing University’s interview and research synopsis presentation
  • Valid PNC licence

Graduates of the Ph.D. in Nursing program at ZUFONAM will be highly sought after in healthcare, education, and research sectors. They can assume leadership roles in nursing education, serving as faculty, researchers, and policymakers in academic institutions. With expertise in evidence-based practice and healthcare policy, they can work in hospitals, research organisations, and government health departments. Additionally, they can lead nursing research projects, influence policy decisions, and drive advancements in patient care. Their ability to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to nursing science makes them valuable assets in both national and international healthcare organisations. 

The PhD programme in nursing will facilitate the scholars to acquire leadership roles in nursing healthcare, initiate and maintain collaborative relationships with nurses and individuals in other disciplines, advance nursing and healthcare knowledge by critically evaluating existing theories and knowledge, identifying new areas of inquiry for research, and develop the science that guides nursing practice and healthcare by conducting original research using established ethical principles and disseminating research findings to advance new directions in theory, practice, and education.
