The Bachelor of Science (BS) program in Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy is an undergraduate program that aims to equip students with a solid foundation in audiology and speech-language pathology. Learning And Teaching Strategies

Currently, BS-ASLT and the MS-SLP are both structured around a modular curriculum; they are both, knowledge and skill oriented. The curricula emphasize in – depth training both theoretical and clinical; with clinical training (i.e. observation and performance of clinical work) within CSLHS, in the hospital, in special schools, and in mainstream schools.

Program Overview

Program Focus: The Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy Bachelor of Science (BS) program emphasizes the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals experiencing speech, language, and hearing disorders. Students enrolled in this program acquire a comprehensive understanding and proficiency in evaluating and managing a wide range of communication disorders. These disorders include articulation disorders, language delays, fluency disorders, voice disorders, pediatric communication disorders, adult neurogenic communication disorders, augmentative and alternative communication, as well as hearing impairments. Through coursework and practical training, students develop the necessary knowledge and skills to address the diverse needs of individuals with these communication challenges.

Core Curriculum: The curriculum typically includes a combination of core coursework, specialized courses, and clinical practicum experiences. Core courses cover subjects such as normal communication development, anatomy and physiology of the speech and hearing mechanisms, phonetics, audiology, speech and language assessment, therapeutic techniques, and research methods.

Educational Qualifications: 

  • Applicants should have completed a Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) or equivalent 12th Grade Qualification and have obtained a minimum of 55% marks in any discipline.
  • Candidates who are waiting for their HSSC or equivalent 12th Grade results are also eligible to apply on a provisional basis.

Prerequisites: 

  • Applicants should have studied Sciences with Biology in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) or Biology in equivalent 10th Grade.
  • Applicants having non-medical background should complete “Biology” as a foundation course in zero semester.

Entrance Test: 

  • Applicants are required to take entrance tests, conducted by the Ziauddin University Examination Department. 
  • The entrance test assesses the applicant’s cognitive abilities, problem-solving skills, logical reasoning, and language proficiency and also knowledge in areas like biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and English language or communication sciences.

English Language Proficiency: 

  • Applicants are required to demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English language.

An advance fee to be paid semester-wise All dues need to be cleared within two weeks of the commencement of the academic year. A 2% surcharge per month will be levied on outstanding fees after the due date.
