Panel Discussion: From Classroom to Boardroom: Applying Skills in Industry

On 5th November 2024, the College of Languages, Literature and Culture hosted a panel discussion titled “From Classroom to Boardroom: Applying Skills in Industry”. The event featured renowned speakers: Dr. Gul Rukh Askary, Ms. Mahwish Ejaz Karimi, and Ms. Subeika Rizvi, who shared their valuable perspectives on bridging academic knowledge with industry insights. The panellists discussed the importance of communication skills, leadership skills, mentoring, empathy, resilience, and tolerance. Also, the panellists provided students with potential solutions to the existing challenges they face in developing skills during their academic journey. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A session, inspiring students and faculty to explore the significance of skills development. It was moderated by the CLLC faculty, M. Bakhtawar Daudpota. 

Fundraiser

A successful fundraiser was held by the College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences to support our mission of delivering top-tier audiology and speech therapy services to deserving patients. The event witnessed generous participation from donors and well-wishers who share our commitment to accessible healthcare. Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit patients at our clinic, ensuring they receive the care they need without financial barriers. This collective effort marks a step forward in improving healthcare access and transforming lives through compassion and community support. 

Aga Khan University Blog Writing Workshop

Ziauddin University and Aga Khan University-IED (Institute for Educational Development) successfully implemented a blog writing initiative on 29th October 2024 as part of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Five talented students from Ziauddin University, accompanied by Ms. Hina Khan and Ms. Moomal Chandio, visited AKU-IED for a collaborative workshop on 29th October 2024. Under the expert guidance of Ms. Faryaal Khalid from AKU-IED, the students from both institutions engaged in a productive brainstorming session, generating innovative ideas and co-creating engaging content. The outcome of this joint effort will be published on the university website, showcasing the students’ creative writing skills to a global audience and fostering a spirit of inter-university collaboration and knowledge sharing. 

Building A Safer Campus: Understanding & Addressing Sexual Harassment 

On October 29, 2024, Ziauddin University organised a comprehensive seminar titled “Building a Safer Campus: Understanding & Addressing Sexual Harassment.” The event focused on raising awareness about the forms, impacts, and prevention of sexual harassment within academic environments. Participants engaged in informative sessions covering institutional policies, reporting mechanisms, and best practices for fostering a safe and respectful campus culture. The seminar emphasised the university’s commitment to ensuring a secure and inclusive space for all students, faculty, and staff through education, dialogue, and proactive measures.  

World Food Day – Food Science & Technology

On 23rd October 2024, the Food Science & Technology Programme at ZUFESTM celebrated World Food Day under the theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.” Students from various universities across Sindh participated in a poster and project competition, showcasing innovative ideas related to sustainable food production, nutrition, and food security.
