On 23rd October 2024, the Food Science & Technology Programme at ZUFESTM celebrated World Food Day under the theme “Right to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.” Students from various universities across Sindh participated in a poster and project competition, showcasing innovative ideas related to sustainable food production, nutrition, and food security.
Several industries supported the event through sponsorship (GSS, SAMA, United King, Dulzer, Igloo, CWTC, PakPure Line) and set up stalls, providing students with insights into the latest trends and innovations in food science and technology.
In addition to the competitions, a seminar featured notable experts in the field, including Dr Mudassir Nazir, Dr Saqib Arif, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abbas Zafar, Dr Fahad Azim (Dean, ZUFESTM), and Dr Saad Jawaid Khan (Principal, College of Engineering and Technology – ZUFESTM). The seminar underscored that ensuring the right to food is critical for a healthier, more sustainable future.
The event was led by Dr Natasha Abbas Butt, Assistant Professor (Food Science & Technology Programme – ZUFESTM), along with all faculty members. The event was a remarkable success, uniting students, academia, and industry experts to advocate for food security and the universal right to nourishment.
