Independence Day Celebration 2024

At Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy, Ziauddin University – Sukkur Campus, the celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day was a vibrant and memorable event. Students from all four batches of the Doctor of Physical Therapy programme participated with great enthusiasm. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem and the Ziauddin anthem, setting a patriotic tone. Students conveyed powerful messages of patriotism through various skits and tableaux. Faryal, a first-year student, captivated the audience with her melodious rendition of national songs, elevating the atmosphere.

World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT)

We are excited to announce that the World Federation of Occupational Therapists (WFOT) has officially recognised our Doctor of Occupational Therapy (Five-Year Programme) offered by the College of Occupational Therapy.

Pakistan Registry of Intensive CarE (PRICE) Retreat

The Pakistan Registry of Intensive CarE (PRICE) is a national health service registry that collects
routinely available patient data from collaborating intensive care units (ICUs) across Pakistan.
Data is gathered through a secure web-based platform by trained data collectors and stored on
protected servers, accessible only to authorized personnel. Since its establishment in 2017,
PRICE has grown into a robust network with over 80 ICUs from 32 hospitals nationwide,
covering all four provinces. With a capacity of 1,300 ICU beds, the registry has documented
more than 75,000 patients.

Panel Discussion

CLLC-Faculty of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences organised a panel discussion on 20th May 2024 titled Ode to the Leading Women-Challenging gender stereotypes for an inclusive society. It was an impactful discussion on the role of women in society. The speakers were renowned industry experts Dr. Uzma Shujaat, Ms. Lubna Jera and Ms.Tahera Hasan. It was moderated by FLAHS faculty Ms. Saima Yousuf. 

Pakistan Celebrates International Clinical Trials Day

On 20 May, the doors of the Clinical Trials Unit at Ziauddin University, Karachi, Pakistan, were
opened to the public to celebrate International Clinical Trials Day 2024. Members of the public
and local community had a chance to hear about current clinical trials, patient safety in
research as well as the role of patient public involvement and engagement (PPIE) in trials.
The event also featured the world premiere of an animated video in Urdu explaining clinical
trials in easy-to-understand, lay language. Over 100 members of the community attended the
Open House event, of whom 80% had never heard about clinical trials. Attendees expressed
huge enthusiasm for learning more, supporting local clinical trials, and spreading the word
about clinical trials to their fellow community members.

Alternative and Augmentative Communication

The College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences successfully conducted a workshop on Alternative and Augmentative Communication on 2nd May 2024, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM. Led by esteemed Speech and Language Therapist Ms. Humera Suria, the session offered practical insights into AAC techniques and their clinical applications. The workshop drew an engaged audience and encouraged interactive learning. With limited seats, the event saw full attendance, highlighting the interest in advancing communication support strategies within the field of speech-language therapy.

On March 11th, Vice Chancellor, Ziauddin University Prof. Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan and Registrar Capt. (r) Syed Waqar Hussain visited the Ziauddin University Sukkur campus to oversee the progress of ongoing and upcoming projects. They commended the efforts of ZU management for undertaking initiatives to develop state-of-the-art infrastructure for the university and hospital.
During their visit, they inspected all the construction sites of the university and hospital, emphasising the need to expedite the completion of the College of Nursing and Pharmacy buildings.

Physiopedia Community-Based Rehabilitation Programme

Hybrid Clinical skill training was conducted at Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy in collaboration with Physiopedia as an activity of ReLAB- HS activity by USAID. The hands-on training was mentored by Prof. Dr. Sumaira Imran Farooqui (Dean Faculty of Allied Health Sciences) Ms. Neelum Zehra (Principal, HOD, ZCOT), and Dr. Abid Khan PT (Assistant Professor ZCPT) and assisted by Dr. Rahat PT (Lecturer ZCPT), Dr. Ather Hashmi PT (Lecturer ZCPT) and Mr. Saad Akhtar (Senior Lecturer ZCPT) from 12th to 14th February 2024. Participants, other than our faculty, were involved across the country and benefited from the hands-on skills as well as the involvement in the community setting which involves the industrial collaboration of ZCPT such as DEPD, Dar-ul-Sakun, and Sikandar Abad projects.
