World Wildlife Day

World Wildlife Day is celebrated every year on March 3rd to raise awareness about the
importance of protecting the world’s wild animals and plants. It was established by the
United Nations General Assembly in 2013, marking the day the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) was
signed in 1973. The highlights of the day are presented below:

Every Voice, Every Sound

The College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, Ziauddin University, organised Every Voice, Every Sound to highlight the importance of hearing assessments and appropriate hearing aid fittings, led by Mamoon Ali and Wisha Ali. On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, Saamia Bilal Khan emphasised the need for timely assessments and referrals to support individuals with Down syndrome.

Together, we celebrate inclusion and hearing health for all! 

Fuelling Health, Inspiring Change – NutriCamp 2025!

In honour of March Nutrition Month, the College of Human Nutrition and Dietetics hosted a NutriCamp, where students put their knowledge into action! From nutrition assessments to personalised counselling, they empowered individuals to make informed dietary choices.

ReLAB-HS Workshop

The faculty of Ziauddin College of Physical Therapy joined hands with US-AID & ReLAB-HS for a groundbreaking initiative in Karachi. From March 4-6, 2024, our team participated in the “Rehabilitation Workforce Capacity Building” training workshop. Together, we’re enhancing access to sustainable, high-quality rehabilitation services. Let’s empower communities and foster resilience.

Umeed ki Awaz

The College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences, Ziauddin University, hosted a one-of-a-kind event where children and adults with special needs got a platform to shine, interact with celebrities, and showcase their talents on February 28th, 2025. The evening ended on a soulful note with Sir Khalid Anum’s iconic “Peera Ho” and Madam Tina Sani’s powerful “Bol Ke Lab Azad Hain Tere.” It was a heartfelt event that left smiles, inspiration, and unforgettable memories!  

IBA Sports Fest

The Ziauddin University Men’s Table Tennis Team showcased exceptional skill and determination at the IBA Sports Fest 2025, delivering an outstanding performance throughout the competition. We are proud to announce that ZU reached the semifinals in the Men’s Doubles Table Tennis event—a testament to the dedication and hard work of our talented athletes!

Meeting and Workshop

Ziauddin University, in collaboration with the University of Technology Sydney, hosted an engaging session on “Science for the Future: How Science and Technology Careers Can Help Solve Global Issues.”

Orientation Veterinary

An orientation programme for the new DVM class was held at the Clifton Campus on February 17, 2025. Professor Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qureshi, Dean of ZUFVAS, warmly welcomed the students and emphasised the importance of dedication and hard work in their academic journey. He also highlighted the diverse career opportunities available to DVM graduates. Dr. Munawar Ali Rajput, Director General of Poultry Production and Research Sindh, along with Dr. Waqar Alam from the poultry sector, also addressed the students. They underscored the vital role of the veterinary profession in the development of the livestock and poultry industries. The highlights of the day are presented below: 

Table Tennis

The ZU Sports Department organised a thrilling ZU Boys Table Tennis Championship 2025, which concluded with great success. The event saw enthusiastic participation from boys of 14 different departments, showcasing their skills and talent in the sport.

Symposium

The Faculty of Allied Health Sciences successfully hosted “Empowering Advocacy Against Sexual Harassment: Creating Safe and Inclusive Workplaces” on January 18, 2025, at Abul Hassan Jaffery Auditorium. Prof. Dr. Qudsia Hassan led an insightful session, educating teaching and non-teaching staff on legal frameworks, reporting mechanisms, and proactive strategies for fostering a harassment-free workplace. The interactive discussion emphasised the role of awareness, institutional policies, and collective responsibility in ensuring safety and inclusivity.
