A Four Day Workshop On
Research Methodology
The workshop on Research Methodology was organized by the Registrar office through the Department of Research in collaboration with the Directorate of Educational Development (DED) and Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) from 14th to 17th June, 2022. This workshop has been designed to promote the professional development of the faculty with capacity building in research and increase academic productivity. Among the different attendees, over twelve ZU departments were represented.
Dr. Irfan Hyder, esteemed VC inaugurated the program with a stimulating and extremely motivating lecture on the philosophy and significance of the research. Dr. Talat Mirza, Executive Director Research delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the importance of the research process. The topics of the first two days of the workshop were qualitative & quantitative research, educational research, critical literature review & search and scientific writing including synopsis, thesis and manuscript and facilitated by Dr. Talat Mirza, Dr. Kiran Hashmi, Dr. Syeda Rakhshanda, Dr. Zil-e-Rubab, Dr. Saeeda Baig, Dr. Farah Ahmed and Mr. Shiraz Khurshid.
The third day was devoted to ORIC, Dr. Saeeda Baig conducted a very extensive and thought-provoking session on grant writing. Ms. Ambreen Muzammil and Mr. Adnan Jafri followed forward with session on the Stakeholder mapping & engagement and design thinking. The guest speaker Dr. Raiz Uddin, Director ORIC, NED University of Engineering and Technology delivered a motivational talk on innovation and shared his valuable experiences with a drive to promote inter university linkage and collaboration.
On day fourth, the first session on Endnote was conducted by Dr. Rehan Imad. Dr. Farah Ahmed, delivered a lecture on statistical methods followed forward by Ms. Iqra Rehman hands-on session on SPSS.
Feedback from the attendees was very satisfactory and encouraging. They acknowledged the efforts of facilitators and organizers. They shared that such workshops are immensely needed for building reflective capacity of the faculty to promote research culture and further strengthen the designing and development of novel research projects.
