22nd Interactive Series ZU Dialogues:” Youth at Risk: The Growing Threat of Drug Addiction in Educational Institutions”…
The PR & Communications Department of Ziauddin University organized the 22nd session of ZU DIALOGUES under the theme, “Youth at Risk: The Growing Threat of Drug Addiction in Educational Institutions,” aimed at raising awareness about the concerning rise of substance abuse within academic settings. The event highlighted the importance of identifying root causes and encouraged collaboration among students, faculty, and parents to safeguard educational environments.
The session featured prominent experts, including Sarah Jehangir, Principal of the College of Clinical Psychology at Ziauddin University; Dr. Salman Shahzad, Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Karachi; Dr. Umair Mahmood Siddiqui, an esteemed Islamic scholar and former member of the Council of Islamic Ideology; and former Pakistani cricketer Sikandar Bakht. The session was hosted by Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Umrani, Director ORIC, Ziauddin University.
Delivering the keynote address, Prof. Dr. Nida Hussain emphasized the severity of the issue, stating, “Our campuses, once centers of learning, are now being targeted by organized networks using them as distribution hubs for illicit substances. At Ziauddin University, we uphold a strict zero-tolerance policy on drugs.” She highlighted that institutions meant to nurture young minds are now at risk of becoming breeding grounds for drug abuse. Dr. Hussain urged immediate and united action from educators, parents, policymakers, and communities to restore the sanctity of these academic spaces and ensure they remain places of growth and intellectual development.
The Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan, also reiterated the need for collective efforts to address the rising menace of drug addiction in educational settings, reaffirming the university’s steadfast commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all students.

NAZARIYA 2024 – Film Festival
Ziauddin College of Media Sciences (ZCOMS) proudly held its first-ever film festival, NAZARIYA 2024, on 30th January. The event showcased emerging filmmakers from across Pakistan, with over 50 submissions evaluated by renowned industry experts. The full-day programme included film screenings, workshops, and panel discussions, concluding with a prestigious award ceremony. Guests of honour, including Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Shah and Ms. Sultana Siddiqui, added to the event’s prestige. ZCOMS now looks forward to making NAZARIYA an annual tradition, fostering new talent in Pakistan’s film industry.
Medical Technology Dinner

Lamp Lighting Event Nursing & Midwifery
On Saturday, 20th July 2024, a Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony was held at Ziauddin University’s Clifton Campus for first-year undergraduate nursing students of ZUFONAM. The event symbolised the students’ commitment to gaining knowledge and upholding the ethical standards of the nursing profession. The ceremony was organised by the ZUFONAM faculty, with the Vice Chancellor of Ziauddin University as the Chief Guest. Dr. Pamela Marshall, Dean of ZUFONAM, delivered the welcome speech, while Dr. Sumaira K. Punjwani, Principal of ZUFONAM, highlighted the institute’s achievements. The event concluded with remarks by Associate Professor Sir Santosh Kumar.

ZU Bazar
Student Council BDS, in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs, organised an exhilarating night for all departments of Ziauddin University and outsiders. The ZU Bazaar was held on September 6th, 2024, at Ziauddin Family Park. The event was sponsored by Habib Metro Bank, Davago and Jubilee Insurance. It was a one-of-a-kind event with up to 20 lifestyle stalls and 10 plus food stalls. Students enjoyed their favourite treats, shopped, played games, and ended the night with not one but two concerts featuring KHUDGARZ and NEHAN BUTT MUSIC. ZU Bazar has left its mark as one of the best events this year

The Nursing Department emerged as the overall champions, winning the General Trophy, with victories in Futsal (men’s) and Table Tennis (men’s). They were also runners-up in Throwball (girls’) and Cricket (men’s).
