INTRODUCTION TO THE PROGRAM

Ziauddin University is planning to introduce 4 years Bachelor of Science (Internet of Things) program with the entitlement of degree as BS (IOT), under the Department of Electrical Engineering.

Internet of Things (IOT) is the attempt to build IOT systems. IOT is the combination of wireless communication and computer science. The recent development of communication devices and wireless network technologies continues to advance the new era of the Internet and telecommunications. The various “things”, which include not only communication devices but also every other physical object on the planet, are also going to be connected to the Internet, and controlled through wireless networks. This concept, which is referred to as the “Internet of Things (IoT)”, has attracted much attention from many researchers in recent years. The concept of IoT can be associated with multiple research areas such as body area networks, Device-to-Device (D2D) communications networks, Personnel area networks (PAN), Regional area Networks (RAN), Smart home, Smart buildings, Smart cities, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Networks, Satellite Networks, and so forth.

PROGRAM MISSION

  1. Develop a interdisciplinary program that delivers intimate understanding of the principles of internet-connected devices by merging the relevant aspects of mathematics, electronics, data communications and computing.
  2. Create industry professionals that can harness the benefits of this rapidly growing field by equipping them with a broad foundation and deep domain expertise of this field.
  3. Develop a healthy environment for delivering quality education through discovery and innovation to solve real-world problems.

SCOPE AND CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The graduates will be able to choose from a wide range of opportunities in industry, commerce, government and academia. The graduates will have career prospects in the sectors involving embedded computing, software application development, information systems, networking, electronic design of IoT devices, installation/commissioning of IoT devices, hardware-software integration of IoT devices, and cyber security etc.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The eligibility criteria should be fulfilled for seeking the admission.

  1. HSSC (Pre-Engineering/Pre-Medical or Computer Science Group)/ A-Level or equivalent qualification/DAE (Electrical / Electronics/ Computer Information Technology or Equivalent). A-Level students are required to obtain equivalence certificate from Interboard Committee of Chairman (IBCC). ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Who can apply:

Candidates in Pakistan or overseas, who have successfully completed or are completing their HSSC/graduate/postgraduate at the time of submission mentioned in the above guidelines and meet the eligibility criteria may apply. Please note that the candidates will be assessed on the basis of HSSC results.
