A panel discussion session titled ‘Living Indus’ was held on 5th June 2022 at Port Grand, Karachi as part of the Lahooti Melo to celebrate the Indus Civilization. Dr.Zulfiqar Umrani, Director ORIC Ziauddin University, and the panelists were from the UN, FAO, the government, Community Leaders, and the Media (The sketches) this event was co-organized by United Nations Pakistan, the Government of Sindh, and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation.
The Undergraduate students of DPT Link road location organized a Summer Gala and character day on 2nd June 2nd, 2022. The main idea behind the Gala was to involve all the batches in fun-filled and thrilling activities to release their anxiety from the workload and enable them to spent time with one another. The students whole-heatedly decorated their class rooms into a beach theme setting and dressed up as their favorite Bollywood characters. Several on-minute challenge games like Ping-Pong, pop the balloon and musical chair were organized that were equally enjoyed by the available faculty members. Moreover, after the gaming session, the winners were given prizes and the best dressed male and female students were badged with the Title of ‘Lord of the Eve’ and Goddess of the Eve respectfully. In addition to this, the students also performed several songs on the keyboard and did karaoke with was applauded by all of the attendees. Lastly, a buffet lunch was organized by the students for which the faculty was also invited to.
Research & Technology Expo 2022
Ziauddin University participated in the Research and Technology Expo 2022 held on 19th and 20th May 2022, organized by NED-UET and Sindh HEC.
Adnan Jafri (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Lead) & Ambreen Muzammil (Linkages & Outreach Lead) from Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization facilitated the ZU exhibitors at the Expo. Registrar ZU-Capt. (Retd.) Syed Waqar Hussain visited the ZU stall and appreciated the researchers and their projects.
The following projects were showcased at the Expo:
1. Modular Air Quality Monitoring System from the Faculty of Engineering Science Technology and Management-Ziauddin University
2. Speech & Language Therapy: EduLearn Tools (Materials + Website) Ziauddin College of Speech Language and Hearing Sciences.
3. Anatomage Table (For teaching MBBS students and professional doctors) from the Anatomy Department-Ziauddin Medical College.
4. Abstract concepts in science: Carbon -Hybridization from Ziauddin College of Education.
Pro-Chancellor Ziauddin University Dr. Nida Hussain distributed scholarship cheques among meritorious ZU Postgraduate students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Engineering, Science, Technology & Management. The cheque distribution ceremony was held on Thursday 21 April 2022 at Ziauddin University. Dr. Nida Hussain distributed the scholarship cheques among the students amounting to Rs. 230,000 each. The Registrar, Capt Waqar Hussain, and Director ORIC Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Umrani facilitated the scholarships which were approved by the Sindh HEC. We wish success to our scholarship-winning students!
Many of us take our ability to communicate for granted as most of us are born with it but the ability to speak, hear and be heard is much more vital to our everyday lives than most of us realize. For those who have difficulty communicating, everyday interactions can pose significant challenges. A communication disorder may prevent an individual from performing well at work, asking for help, hearing instructions at school.
Each year, internationally Speech and hearing month is celebrated worldwide, in the month of May raise public awareness about communication, speech and hearing disorders. College of speech language and hearing science, Ziauddin university highlights the importance of early detection and intervention in the treatment of communication disorders. Dr. Asim Hussain met with the Ziauddin University graduates, who matched the US Residency program this year at the top ranking hospitals in general surgery, paediatric, family medicine and internal medicine. The Chancellor congratulated all of them on achieving this milestone. The Pro-Chancellor, Dr Nida Hussain, Vice Chancellor Syed Irfan Hyder and Dean Dr Abbas Zafar also present on the auspicious occasion.
