The Learning Tree Visited Ziauddin University

On 14 September 2017 the students (fourth graders) of THE LEARNING TREE visited ZU Anatomy and Forensic departments for better learning of human anatomy/ human body systems. They were absolutely fascinated to visit the anatomy museum it strengthened the knowledge they already had and also gave them an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions.
The finger printing activity was also a lot of fun for them.
The Learning Tree staff and administration extended their thanks to the departments for such hospitality.

6th International Symposium of Gynecology and Fetomaternal Medicine

As per ritual International Symposium of Gynecology and Fetomaternal Medicine was organized in the month of September 2017. With the untiring dedication and efforts of Prof. Dr. Rubina Hussain this time it was held at Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore. The renowned speakers from Pakistan Dr. Arif Tajamal, Dr. Arshad Chohan, Dr. Fareed Zafar, Dr.Rubina Hussain and Dr .Tahira Batool Chaudhry shared their expertise in different Gynae and Fetomaternal specialties. Dr. David McQueen from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists imparted his knowledge on the upcoming issues in women health care (Subfertility and Ca of Endometrium).The Symposium was graced by Professor Fakhar who was the chief guest. The event was attended by number of expert Gynecologists and obstetricians. The symposium was an accredited activity and was held in collaboration with RCOG-IRC Pakistan, SOGP and the Dept. of Continuing Professional Education, Ziauddin University.

Ziauddin University Bids Farewell

Ziauddin University hosted back to back farewells of Dr. Arsalan Manzoor (Assistant Professor Dept. of Anatomy), Dr. Rahila Ali (Assistant Professor Dept. of Education Development) and Dr.Ikram (Assistant Professor Department of Forensic Medicine). Dr. Arsalan Manzoor joined ZMC as MPhil trainee and served at the positions of Senior lecturer and Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Anatomy for almost 10 years. The farewell lunch was well attended by his colleagues, Dean FHS and Registrar of the University. His dedication and work was appreciated by the Dean and faculty of the dept. of Anatomy. Dr. Arsalan played pivotal role in bridging the gap between the students and faculty. He was the patron of students run magazine ATLAS. With heavy heart Dr Arsalan called his tenure to be unforgettable as Ziauddin medical college had given him the platform to explore himself.
Farewell lunch for Dr. Rahila Ali and Dr. Ikram Ali was organized on 25 September 2017. Dr. Ikram had worked for Ziauddin platform for quite some time first he was associated with Health TV and then as Assistant Professor Department of Forensic Medicine. He was hard working and a very dedicated teacher who had good bonding with his students.
Dr. Rahila Ali had been associated with Ziauddin University for more than a decade. She proved her mantle as a physician working in the Department of Family medicine for a long period of time. She is one of the pioneers in establishing the Dept. of Education Development at Ziauddin University. Her untiring efforts and valuable contribution to the department was well appreciated by the Vice Chancellor and the Dean FHS Dr. Abbas Zafar.
Though the contributions of the prestigious faculty will be missed at ZU but we wish them luck in all their future endeavors.

Ziauddin Media Society Arranges Beach Party

Just when the summer season was taking its tow, Ziauddin Media Society rolled up its sleeves to organize a beach party for the students on the 19th of August. The excitement in the air soared from the first light of dawn to sunset. The students basked and bathed all day in the sun, sand, and of course sea.

Students from all the departments of Ziauddin University enthusiastically participated and enjoyed to their fullest, taking memories to be cherished for a lifetime. The air was filled with scent of mouth-watering food as everyone grooved on the rhythm created by the DJ. Horses galloped from one end to another as students satisfied their appetite for horse riding. Beach party is never complete without volley ball and the society ensured that the excitement tank does not go empty. Laughs and arguments for were shared during the volley ball matches but it all added flavour to the success of the entire event. To ensure that everything goes well, there were life guards as well to keep everything under control in deep waters.

The event turned out to be a significant platform for all the students of each department as they had an opportunity to socialize with each other and make friends that would last a lifetime. Ziauddin Media Society’s patron Ma’am Fatima HatimAnjary ensured that President FarasKirmani with his executive council and cabinet members especially Ali Merchant, Bilal Ahmed, ShahzadZaka, Hamza Nadir, Neha and Unaiza Masood made all the necessary arrangements to execute an event worth remembering for all the good reasons. The event remained to be the talk of the town for a long time and students expect many more events to come in time to cherish all such memories during their university life.

College Of Speech Language & Hearing Sciences Commences Lsvt Loud Treatment

LSVT LOUD is an evidence based therapy for idiopathic Parkinson’s and is known to benefit 51% of patients having Dysphagia as a co-morbidity. It is also known to help adults as well as children having voice impediments of neurogenic origin.
Lee Silverman Voice Treatment of LSVT LOUD commences at the CSLHS in Clifton, through Amina Siddiqui who is an LSVT LOUD certified speech language therapist, after completion of training at the Columbia Teacher College, New York.
